Printing: Print Driver Setup

Dialog box properties vary by printer/driver version. Example is for Epson Stylus Pro 2200.

First, select the Media Type or Paper Quality, changing Plain Paper to something better. This is your printer’s description of the general category of paper you are using, and it controls some other options. Your paper should describe what this setting should be for common printers, but you might have to find out from the paper manufacturer if it does not.

You need to put the driver into a sufficiently advanced mode that it will offer these sort of options:

ICM should be on, and Printer Color Management should be OFF, because we are having Elements manage the colors.

Print quality should be something like 1440dpi (for inkjet)

You should be able to save these settings under a relevant name, which should include the paper size/type.

At this point, for the Epson 2200, driver preferences look like this:

Click OK to complete the driver preferences setup.

Click Print or OK to have Elements start sending your image file to the print spooler.

Enjoy.
